I've made it fairly clear in other posts that my fave bands are SFK, Pearl Jam, Powderfinger and Jebediah, and I'm basically a rock/alternative music person. But we all like something from other styles too... I'm sharing this with you now, opening myself to ridicule, but hopefully someone will back me up and maybe like someone that I hate and we can bag each other.
OK, from pop music: Britney Spears Robbie Williams Mya Destiny's Child Nelly Furtado
I also like some R&B, some hip-hop (eg Tupac), some dance (Chemical Brothers, Fatboy Slim)... I'm very diverse.
There, that's my biggest secret. (Well not my biggest, but sheep can't talk!) ;D

ok dudes. .
well. . i must admit. . robbie williams. . .hes an excellent performer. . .and if someone offered to take me to his concert in melbourne, i wouldve gone. .
um. . i would have to say that chemical brothers and fatboy slim would be considered under the alternative style label, as most people who would listen to mainstream dance music porbably wouldnt listen to them . . .
and another thing. .alternative is almost becomming mainstream. . . .
its true kids

There, that's my biggest secret. (Well not my biggest, but sheep can't talk!) ;D ;D lol I've racked my brains, the only think that comes to mind is I though the All Saints were ok a couple of years ago. I borrowed their album but went right off them when I heard what they did to the Chili Peppers' song (Under the Bridge) they butchered it

I think i'm totally not pop. It all sucks. And Captain BJ- have you HEARD Slave 4 U? It's pathetic. No tune, no nothing. Crap, crap, crap. As for her sticking with what she is, er- i mean, she slides from little miss innocent to rocker wannabe to down right slut.

As for her sticking with what she is, er- i mean, she slides from little miss innocent to rocker wannabe to down right slut.
I like Slave 4 U as well... I should correct myself, by sticking by what she does I don't mean she sings the same songs, Slave is different to Baby One More Time which is different to Lucky (isn't it tragic that I know all the songs?) Have you seen the video clip for Slave 4 U? It's quite amusing how guys think it's the greatest video clip ever made and chicks hate it. I don't mind the songs (despite my usual tastes) and if she wants to use her sex appeal to sell her songs, I'm not complaining. It's just another selling point. Just like SFK might make an instore appearance to drum up some sales, Britney wears less. Tell me you don't like looking at an arse that fine. ;D It's easier to respect a song that's not commercial crap, but since when was it a crime to write pop songs? I know you could say that if it's pop then it's not true to the art. She probably grew up loving pop music and decided she wanted to sing those songs. So just because she's popular doesn't mean she's only motivated by money. Maybe if she sung a song that would belong on Kid A it might be respected as more artistic but not true to her own thoughts of music.
